Ysgol Cedewain presents a new initiative funded by the Welsh Assembly Governments’ Community Focused Schools Grant. This programme commences initially in 3 areas of the County; Llanfyllin, Machynlleth and Knighton.

The purpose of these groups will be to provide support for parents of children with disabilities or special needs and give them an opportunity to learn together and develop support networks in an informal environment.

All facilities will be free and provided for weekly sessions of up to two hours when a variety of organisations and speakers will be invited to come and give information and advice to the group for example: Powys Carers, Homeopathy, Healthy Eating, Autism, Disability Sport etc Refreshments will be provided and where possible Crèche facilities.

By talking to parents and from experience over the years, Ysgol Cedewain has been running school based support groups centred around typical parent’s interests. It is hoping to extend this beyond the school.
