WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Social work professionals who have some understanding of attachment theory

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this training session, participants will:

  • Revisit the importance of understanding  attachment theory, developmental trauma and the impact of early unmet need on children’s development
  • Consider how caregiver’s behaviour can influence
    • the child’s attachment behaviours and relationship dynamic
    • their relationship with the child
    • the child’s capacity to develop relationships and manage transitions in the future
  • Start to look at how practitioners and caregivers can work with children to improve relationships by
    • Creating a secure base
    • Increasing understanding of inner worlds
  • Explore some activities for assessment and relationship building, including those in   PACE,  The House Model of Parenting and Theraplay
